◎简 介
《红美丽》描述了一位现代上海女人的一段特殊心路历程。故事发生在经济迅速发展的中国现代大都市――上海，由美籍华裔影星邬君梅扮演的主人公朱美丽，是一个八岁男孩的母亲，因其丈夫遇害，内疚的她决心挺身而出，然而陷入为夫复仇和骗局困境的她渐渐不能自拔……
朱美丽有个幸福的三口之家，可是为了丈夫能够赚更多的钱来改善家庭生活，她逼着丈夫去谈一笔生意，就是在这个过程中丈夫出了意外，被生意上的对手所害。这个望夫成龙的妻子在失去丈夫的痛苦中，更背负着无比的内疚。也正是这种内疚驱使她要为丈夫报仇，可是一个原本善良的、与世无争的弱女子怎么去实施她的报复行动呢？
此时，他丈夫生前的老板（葛优饰演）出面“相助”，他帮助朱美丽找到了杀害他丈夫的“凶手”，又帮她准备好了复仇的工具――手枪。朱美丽穿上丈夫临走前送给她的红色旗袍来赴凶手之约。对丈夫的内疚让她冷静地在酒店的房间里枪杀了“凶手”，而与此同时，她自己也成为了杀人者。从此，她陷入了一个无法摆脱的复仇的漩涡。那个好心的老板提醒她，被杀的“凶手”的同伙盯上了她的儿子，让她再去把那个同伙除掉。她不想自己刚刚平静的生活再起波澜，在几度挣扎后，为了儿子的安全，她再次前往杀人现场。当她看到自己的“敌人”也有个孩子的时候，她母性的大爱被唤醒了，她不能让世上再多一个失去父亲的孩子。于是，她果断地中止了这次行动。
就在朱美丽想重新回归平静的时候，她的生活中出现了一个美国人迈克（理查－博吉饰演）。他的温柔、关怀和男性的魅力让朱美丽作为女人的内心蠢蠢欲动，而她怎么也无法摆脱丈夫的影子。在一次舞会上，迈克情到深处吻了朱美丽，同样情不自禁的美丽没有拒绝，但是瞬间，美丽好像从幻象中警醒一般地推开迈克并给了他一耳光，但紧接着，她又发自内心地对自己的行为向迈克道歉，毕竟这个男子对她的爱是无辜的。这一切都发生在几秒钟内，所有的反应都是本能的，迈克的拥吻，美丽的响应，美丽的拒绝，迈克的不解，一切都无可厚非，一切都在情理之中。美丽的内心世界里，被爱的甜蜜与对死去丈夫的负罪感在争斗，这让她痛苦无比。
就在她为打了迈克感到抱歉的时候，故事发生了最戏剧性的转折，她发现迈克竟然是受人指使来靠近她而最终除掉她的人。她对迈克刚刚产生的好感和歉意瞬间又化作了恐惧和仇恨。就在她束手无策的时候，她被告知儿子又离家出走了。她顾不得自己的痛苦，匆匆去找儿子，可她没有在老地方（火车站的月台上）找到儿子，此时，一直坚强的她崩溃了，所有的委屈、难过、孤独、无助、悔恨、愤怒都交织在一起迸发出来。她蹲在月台的墙角失声痛哭，这是影片进行一个多小时来，女主人公的第一次流泪。她的哭泣让人心碎，此时追赶她来到月台的迈克成了她发泄的对象，她哽咽着道出了她所承受的一切，尽管这个时候她已经不相信眼前的这个男人，但是她需要有人来倾听她的故事。
当真正的杀人凶手――那个“好心”的老板原形毕露的时候，是良心发现的迈克帮他深爱的女人美丽杀死了他。故事好像该就此结束了，但导演又安排了一场美丽与律师的对手戏。一个代表法律尊严的律师（孙红雷饰演），一个口口声声说自己无论如何也不会作出不理智的事情的人，在了解美丽的犯罪经过的同时，也在被美丽挖掘着他的尴尬生活：他的母亲曾经背叛父亲并抛下他，而父亲因为个性的软弱被他瞧不起，他的妻子有了情人。作为一个男人，他的生活可谓一塌糊涂，可是他不愿承认这一切，也不敢正视现实。表面上，是由他来解救身陷囹圄的朱美丽，实际上他才是一所没有铁窗的无形监狱里的服刑者，他从起初的不愿关注朱美丽的私人生活，到最后真诚地说“我会带我的孩子去看你的儿子。” 实际上，最终是朱美丽让他对生活和情感幡然醒悟。
